Hjerm Climbing Club
Whichever sport or outdoor activity you enjoy then some kind of training is necessary to keep you in form or to improve your level of performance. For me, I train weekly on an indoor climbing wall in Hjerm near Struer. The wall is run by Hjerm Climbing Club (Hjerm Klatreklub) of which I on the committee. We are a small club with around 16 members, supplemented by 10-15 regular guests, so the wall isn't overcrowded. The wall covers approximately 120 sq. meters and is up to 10m high with two overhangs, a slab and a belay ledge. The wall is also equipped for lead climbing and we have an area equipped for dry-tooling. We climb in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy ourselves. New members are very welcome. You can come and climb as a guest for a single evening, buy a 10x clip card, or become a member for 6 or 12 months at a time. Groups are also very welcome and we can arrange times to suit, and provide instruction and training. We have all the climbing gear necessary, including shoes for you to borrow. Check out the web page 'Klatring' on Hjerm FIF's homepage (see the links page) to get contact details of the committee and of Hjerm sports centre if you wish to hire the climbing wall. If you are interested in building your own boulder or climbing wall then see the wall project here. The climbing club is a member of the Danish Climbing Federation (Dansk Klatreforbund) and Denmarks Sports Federation (DGI).
