| Courses - Climbing Wall Leader (top roped climbing) - This 2 day course is aimed at schools, climbing clubs and owners of climbing walls in Denmark that wish to have trained leaders that can instruct people in climbing. The first step is top-roped climbing on climbing walls where the climber is always protected with a top-rope. The course is aimed at people with minimal experience who wish to be able to lead groups in top-roped climbing on climbing walls safely and with confidence. The course runs over two days with an internal exam one month after the course. A certificate is issued to people who meet the required exam standard as proof of course completion and to show their competance to lead groups in top-roped climbing on climbing walls. The course does not cover lead climbing or abseil. Course fee includes loan of all climbing equipment, instruction, course material, exam and certificate. Course fee does not include climbing wall fees, food and drink during the course, or travel to and from the course location. Price 12000 DKK for a group of 8 people (please enquire for smaller groups, although a minimum of 4 is required). Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:8. Participants must be at least 18 years old at the course start. - Danish Climbing Wall Instructor - This 5 day course covers all the content of the Danish Climbing Federation's Klatrevægsinstruktør qualification. With completion of the exam at the end of the course, the holder is qualified to instruct in top-roped climbing, lead climbing and abseil on artificial climbing walls in Denmark. To take the exam, you must have rock climbing experience and a valid first aid certificate. The Danish Climbing Wall Instructor is the highest instructor qualification for instruction on climbing walls in Denmark. At the exam, a censor is present. Course fee includes loan of all climbing equipment (although you are expected to have your own gear), instruction, course material, exam (including the Danish Climbing Federation fees) and Climbing Federation certificate. Course fee does not include climbing wall fees, food and drink during the course, or travel to and from the course location. Price 20000 DKK for a group of 8 people (enquire for smaller groups, although the minimum is 4). Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:8. Participants must be at least 18 years old at the course start and have the required experience of climbing on climbing walls and rock. For those who have successfully completed the Climbing Wall Leader course mentioned above, then a shortened Climbing Wall Instructor course can be offered at a reduced rate - Rock Climbing Introduction - Covering all the techniques required to make the transition from an indoor climber to climbing on single pitch rock outdoors. Topics covered include equipment for climbing outdoors and its use, bottom and top roping techniques, selecting and using anchors and protection, the safety chain, abseiling, respect for the crag environment and other climbers, route choice and guidebook interpretation, and ethics. Practically based course at crags in Gothenburg and Bohuslän in Sweden. Course duration - 2 days. Course fee includes travel by car and ferry, camping fees and food while in Sweden and equipment. Price 1750 DKK per person (with 3 people). Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:3. Participants must have completed the climbing wall introduction above or similar and have a minimum of 6 months experience of indoor climbing and have their own climbing shoes. - Mountain Navigation - How to read a map and relate it to the land, interpret symbols and contours, scale, use of a compass, pacing out distances, relocation and more. All you need to know if you are preparing a walking or mountaineering holiday or just want to be more confident in the hills. Preparation session to start with, then full days out on the hill. Based in the mountains of Europe. Course duration - Evening preparation session then one or more full days in the mountains. Course fee includes maps but you need your own walking gear, rucksack etc. Price 1700 DKK (150 GBP) per day, not including expenses. Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:6. Participants should have some experience of mountain walking and be reasonably fit. - Advanced Mountain Navigation - For those of you who are reasonably confident walking in the mountains with friends but are afraid to venture out alone or in poor conditions. This course is tailored to your requirements and focuses on techniques for safe accurate navigation in poor visibility, in winter, and at night. Includes the use of altimeters as a navigation aid for those planning on moving on to the Alps. Based in the mountains of Europe in summer or Scotland in winter. Course duration - Evening preparation session then two or more full days in the mountains. Course fee includes maps but you need your own outdoor gear including overnight kit. Price 1700 DKK (150 GBP) per day, not including expenses. Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:4. Participants must be reasonably experienced hill walkers, be fit, and have some basic navigation skills. - Winter Skills - Would you like to move into hill walking in the winter environment but are unfamiliar with winter equipment or winter weather? This course will be tailored to your requirements and will include equipment selection, what to carry, training in the use of ice axe and crampons (including ice axe arrest, step cutting etc.), navigation, snow shelters, movement on grade I ground, winter weather and avalanche hazards. Course duration - Preparation session beforehand then two or more full days on the hill. Course fee includes maps but you need your own outdoor gear. Price 1700 DKK (150 GBP) per day, not including expenses. Maximum instructor to client ratio 1:4. Participants must be experienced summer hillwalkers and be fit. |
| Other Instructional The following activites are available for you as a private individual, a club, or group based in Denmark. I can arrange the activities individually or combine them over a day or more for tailor-made activity days. Contact me for more information. - Abseiling & Tree Climbing - Abseiling and tree climbing can be arranged for individuals and groups. Try abseiling from a 40m high silo or rock face - you choose. Tree climbing can be arranged at locations throughout West Jutland. The maximum instructor to client ratio for tree climbing is 1:8. For larger groups two instructors can be hired. - Rock Climbing - Can be arranged at crags in westerm Sweden, usually over a weekend. Maximum instructor to client ratio 2:10. |

| Consultancy - Activity Planning (Team Building etc.) - Are you wanting to plan an activity or team building day. I can help you in your planning and include any of the activities mentioned such as abseiling, indoor climbing, tree climbing, orienteering and activities such as raft buiding and problem solving. - As Assistant Instructor - Have you planned an activity day and just need extra hands? I am available for work as an assistant instructor. I am also available for longer trips in Europe if you need a qualified and experienced mountain leader or climbing instructor. Price on application. - Setting Up A Climbing Wall or Club - I have been on the committee of Hjerm Climbing Club since 1998 and have ensured that both the wall and club have improved over the years. Together with my extensive experience within the climbing sport, this enables me to advise you if you are thinking about starting a club or building a climbing wall. | Guiding - International Mountain Walking - Experience walking in the hills and mountains with a difference. I focus on good days in the hills both in summer and winter, combined with knowledge about land use and local history, names and language, geology and plant and animal life. I have a great deal of experience with walking in the mountains of Europe and can plan and lead walking holidays and treks tailored to your requirements whether it is days out from a comfortable base or with nights out in the hills. Maybe you have your eye on a certain goal but would prefer someone else to lead it for you. Guided mountain walking can also be combined with the navigation and winter skills courses.
